Eagles vs. Chargers: The pick

AFTER LAST WEEK, I think I might resort to coin-

flipping, or maybe placing each team's logo on the floor and seeing which one my dog sniffs first.

The Eagles haven't lost back-to-back games this season, but that doesn't mean it's a law or anything. I have zero feel for what the Chargers are up to - they're 5-3, just like the Eagles, and like the Eagles, a little less than what they probably should be. They've beaten the Raiders twice; maybe they could give the Birds some pointers on that.

San Diego has won three in a row, and its defense, after posting ugly numbers like 38 points against by the Steelers, 34 by the Broncos and 31 by the Ravens, has given up an average of 14.3 points per game during the winning streak.

While it's true that Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown are the Birds' most important corners, losing Ellis Hobbs and Joselio Hanson going into a matchup against a team with multiple weapons isn't good.

I think the Eagles will have to keep the score down, play ball-control and stick with the ground game against the NFL's 26th-ranked run defense in order to win. Is Andy Reid going to do that?

Prediction

Chargers 27, Eagles 23.

- Les Bowen

I’m going to keep on pushing it, you know, keep on firing until I get this thing right. How am I going to do it? I’m not really going to address that issue, but I assure you that it’s my fault and I need to do a better job putting myself in a position to get it done right. You know, I’m going to keep on firing, keep on pushing it until I get it done right. Why haven’t I learned from my past mistakes? That is another issue I’m not going to address, but I assure you I’ll keep pushing until I get this done right, I’ll put myself in a position that allows me to keep on firing, you know, a position that allows me to keep pushing. Do you think I deserve to come back next year? I’ll come back if the team allows me to keep pushing, firing and allowing me to get in a position to make things better, you know, until I get it done right. I don’t know how long it will take for me to do this, but I’m going to keep on firing, pushing and putting myself in a position to get it done right.

Les: Your picks are valuable as your opinions :-) They don't worth much, everyone knows that except a few like the nutt above :-)

Thanks Voytas but you need to add this: (Grunt) Injury report (snort) He's got a knee (heavy breathing) and the other guy has a shoulder (blows a heater). Time is yours.

Pretty much a new linebacking core, 2 untested back-up cornerbacks, don't see us stopping a whole lot but hey, ya'never know! Just sayin'...

I think the defense will put up a valiant fight to make this game winnable.. however the game will be lost because Andy will refuse to run the ball like he should agaisnt the 26th ranked rushing defense. He will in all likelyhood expose a shakey offensive line to pass protect a shakey quarterback to throw groundballs and behind the receivers in critical situations thus producing a number of 3 and out series.. thus tiring the defense out in the end... it will be another weekend of excuses from McNabb and Andy on what the Eagles can do to learn from losing!!!

I'm with you nixman, the like an alcoholic at the bar, Andy will not be able to resist throwing repeatedly, even though he knows it's bad for him

Chargers may not score that many points, yet I'm very doubtful that the Eagles can put up 20+ and they haven't impressed me being (1-2) so far VS teams with winning records. Advantage = BOLTS

This game has to be a ball controlled game. I think if Mcnabb completes 60% of his passes its a win for DA BIRDS. Fans dont be a dope, never give up hope..

Unless the Birds can get SERIOUS pressure on Rivers, the Chargers receivers will light up the Eagles' CB's and safeties. It could get ugly. Hope I'm wrong, but ... we'll see.
