A close defeat, in which the Birds play pretty well, would not be devastating, except to fans, who consider every loss to Dallas a personal affront. A blowout loss would bring out the tiresome "Ha, ha, you thought they were good just because they beat the Rams, how stuuuppiid!" crowd.
I think the Eagles match up pretty well against the Cowboys. I'm not sure they're ready to win down there, this early. Being dominant against good teams right out of the box has not been the Andy Reid pattern. In fact, Reid has been 2-0 exactly once in his previous nine seasons, back in 2004, which did turn out to be a pretty good year, by the way.
Here's another number worth pondering, courtesy of the Daily News' Bob Vetrone Jr. - 167. That's the number of minutes since the Eagles last
allowed a touchdown, in Game 15 last season. A little Eagles offensive sputtering tonight wouldn't be a shocker, but if Tony Romo really cuts the Birds' defense to ribbons, I'll be surprised.
Cowboys 17, Eagles 13. *
