Philadelphia is on the NFL’s short list of cities that could potentially host a future NFL Draft, according to a report from

The reason why the idea of Philadelphia hosting the annual spring event has been tossed around is because the draft’s usual venue, Radio City Music Hall in New York City, will not be available to the NFL next spring.

The report states that NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said that the league is “focusing” three possible locations for the draft. Those locations are New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

However, sources tell ESPN’s Adam Schefter that scheduling issues with Radio City Music Hall make New York the least likely option for the NFL.

  • From the report:

Radio City Music Hall, the usual host venue, will not be available next year, and the NFL is looking at Madison Square Garden as an alternate site, according to sources. However, with the New York Rangers and New York Knicks both playing there, scheduling the three-day draft would be challenging.

The same goes for the Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets.

The NFL met Friday to go over potential sites. Other cities under consideration include Dallas, Houston, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Boston. Each city has been asked to provide as much information as it can to the NFL by the middle of June, with the NFL hoping to make a decision by the end of the month.

McCarthy also stated in the report that the draft will likely move back its traditional date of late April, as oppose to early May like this year.
