Bowen: Eagles-Cowboys prediction

As usual, I see ways the Eagles can win this game. If the defense gets a few stops, Carson Wentz fine-tunes a bit, the Eagles get a lead - Dallas and Dak Prescott haven't played much from behind. The Cowboys' defense is good, but it isn't on par statistically with the Vikings defense the Birds faced last week, or, in fact, the Eagles' own defense.

I feel I owe it to Eagles fans to pick against the Birds, because they never win when I pick them to win, as I have been reminded. And there is plenty of reason to do that this week: Dallas has won five in a row, Dez Bryant is back from a three-week injury absence. The league's best running game is facing an Eagles defense missing starting defensive tackle Bennie Logan, an excellent run-stopper.

Dallas, a 4.5-point favorite, not only has won every week since that season-opening 20-19 loss to the Giants, it has covered every week.

I don't have a strong feeling either way, but I'll take one for the fan base and go with the Cowboys. Remember to thank me if I'm yet again wrong.

Prediction

Cowboys 26, Eagles 21.
