Eagles not seeking upgrade at receiver 'at this time'

Doug Pederson dismissed the rumors that the Eagles are trying to acquire a wide receiver before next week's trade deadline.

Doug Pederson dismissed the rumors that the Eagles are trying to acquire a wide receiver before next week's trade deadline.

"There's no legitimacy to that," Pederson said, "and I'm thrilled with the guys we have and going to work with them every day."

Pederson added that every team is trying to upgrade every position if it can, but the Eagles are "not at this time" trying to upgrade at wide receiver. They have been linked to San Francisco's Torrey Smith and Chicago's Alshon Jeffery in various reports.

The Eagles appear to lack a deep element in the offense. Pederson mentioned Nelson Agholor, Josh Huff, and Bryce Treggs as wide receivers who can stretch the field. Agholor is averaging 10.6 yards per catch, Huff is averaging 5.3, and Treggs has not played this season.

"But I think it's protection and design of the play," Pederson said. "When I think of stretching the field, I mean, a guy can run fast and that can be stretching the field, but who can really take the top off? Those two guys are two that can do that - and Bryce Treggs."

Restocking at defensive tackle

The Eagles added defensive lineman Taylor Hart to the 53-man roster instead of a defensive back because of Bennie Logan's injury. Logan missed the win over the Vikings with a groin injury and it looks as if he could miss more time. He did not practice Wednesday.

"Right now with the injury to Bennie [Logan], you're down to three," Pederson said. "As much rotating as we do with that group, we felt the need to bring a fourth in."

The other defensive tackles on the roster are Fletcher Cox, Beau Allen, and Destiny Vaeao.

Sitting out

Logan and linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill (hamstring) were the only players who did not participate in practice. Linebacker Mychal Kendricks (ribs) and wide receiver Jordan Matthews (knee) were limited. Tackle Jason Peters (biceps) was a full participant.
