Marcus Smith still not contributing much

"Marcus has got to continue to get better," defensive coordinator Bill Davis said Tuesday. "There hasn't been a whole lot of production yet. We're still working and Marcus is working hard at it and hopefully we can get some production from him."

The Eagles used a three-man rotation at outside linebacker last season with Trent Cole, Connor Barwin, and Brandon Graham. It's been mostly the starters this year because "there's too big of a gap" between Smith, and the Graham/Barwin combination, according to Davis.

"If you're asking me if I would like all the best players I can have and have more? Absolutely," Davis said. "And to have everybody playing at the highest level? The answer is absolutely yes. But right now it's tough to take Connor or B.G. off to put Marcus on."

Injuries

Cornerback Byron Maxwell (shoulder), defensive lineman Bennie Logan (calf), wide receiver Seyi Ajirotutu (ankle), and cornerback Jaylen Watkins (unknown) did not appear to practice Tuesday. The Eagles do not need to give an injury report until Wednesday. . . . The Eagles signed running back Kevin Monangai to the practice squad. Monangai, a Villanova product, spent training camp and the preseason with the Eagles.
