Eagles have too many problems to solve Jets

Between injuries and Sam Bradford's struggles, Birds don't look as if they can avoid another loss.

JETS (-2) over Eagles

Is it the water? Are the Birds just the Sixers with a few more guys on the roster? A roster that seems to shrink every time I finish another sentence. RB DeMarco Murray now listed as questionable . . . Kiko Alonso and Cedric Thornton are out. Mychal Kendricks in trouble. Chip Kelly delusional! Still cannot believe Murray gobbled up only 7 yards against the Cowboys last week. Seven yards! Where are you, Evan Mathis? Please come home, Todd Herremans. And if the Chipper thought Sam Bradford was the answer to his prayers, uh-oh. With a 72.3 passer rating, four interceptions and two touchdowns, not even a blessing from His Holiness Pope Francis would shake up this disaster. The only bright spot for Philly is that Darrelle Revis might be out and RB Chris Ivory is now a question mark. The only way I would drop some green on the Eagles is if they ride up to the Meadowlands in the Popemobile!

SEAHAWKS (-15) over Bears

Last week, we used the Packers over Seattle as our Best Bet, and came away with a sweet "W." This week, we turn the tables and tab the Seahawks in that slot. If you think the 15-point spread is a problem, don't. It actually looks a little low. Actually, in my power ratings, Seattle is 20 points better. (And don't ask me to share my ratings, 'cause it ain't gonna happen.) Pete Carroll loves to make a statement, and what better place than at home, where the 'Hawks have compiled a staggering 26-2 record the last three seasons. Playing against Jimmy Clausen, who is 1-10 as a starter with 60.0 passer rating (the lowest among the 67 QBs with at least 300 attempts since 2010) should make for another easy win in front of the loudest crowd in the NFL.

Colts (-3) over TITANS

Gonna give Andrew Luck one more chance. Why? History. Scroll back to last season and you'll notice that Indy ripped off five straight wins after opening up at 0-2. So the 0-2 does not worry me. Want some more numbers from 2014? The Horseshoes stomped the Titans at home, 41-17, then went down to Nashville and pounded out a 27-10 W. Luck is now 6-0 straight up against Tennessee since his rookie year in 2012, and 5-0-1 against the spread. You feel lucky?

Chiefs (+7) over PACKERS

So much noise surrounding last week's NFC Championship Game rematch. So much energy expended by both teams. Green Bay got its revenge and protected home field. Exactly what we thought, but now we're turning toward Andy Reid and his delicious record as an underdog. He has guided KC to eight covers in the last 11 games as a 'dog. Coulda used that 73 percent cover rate when he was here in town, but we'll be happy to make some cash with his Chiefs.

CARDINALS (-6.5) over 49ers

And the beat goes on. When we used Arizona as our Best Bet in Week 1, we offered up some amazing Carson Palmer stats. And the numbers just continue to amaze. Palmer led the Cardinals to a 9-1 start last season, but suffered a season-ending ACL tear. He's healthy now, the Cards have raced out of the gate at 2-0, and my man Carson has now won 15 of his last 17 starts. Show some love for my neighbors in the desert and buy a little 'Zona.

Jaguars (+14) over PATRIOTS

You cannot care about every game, and I would be shocked if New England's motor was on high for this one. After shutting up Rex Ryan and the Bills, gotta believe the Pats post the "W," but let Jax hang around for a backdoor cover.

COWBOYS (+1.5) over Falcons

Don't bury the 'Boys just yet. Sure they've lost some crucial pieces to their puzzle, but it's gonna be the defense and a fabulous 14-5 record as an underdog that will carry the day.

RAMS (+1) over Steelers

Pittsburgh is already looking ahead to Thursday night with Baltimore, which is why St. Loo sneaks into the winner's circle.

VIKINGS (-2.5) over Chargers

Minny has covered eight of the last 11 outside the NFC North, and, with Adrian Peterson carrying the mail, make it nine of 12.

Buccaneers (+6.5) over TEXANS

Not looking for the outright upset, but Jameis Winston should keep Tampa close enough to cover the spot.

PANTHERS (-3) over Saints

With the line still at minus-3 - and Drew Brees coming in with a bum rotator cuff - Carolina is on my mind.

RAVENS (-2.5) over Bengals

How about a 35-7 record at home the last five seasons, and how about a W for Baltimore.

Raiders (+3.5) over BROWNS

Like Oakland's Derek Carr over either Josh McCown or Johnny Football. But gonna keep this light.

DOLPHINS (-3) over Bills

Miami whipped the Patriots in last year's home opener (33-20), and will give the same treatment to Buffalo.

LIONS (+3) over Broncos

Detroit (0-2) is desperate for a "W," and desperate teams usually rock, especially in home openers.
