Fantasy football: Kickers

Dan Bailey, Cowboys: Led the NFL with 56 made PATs last year. The year before, Denver's Matt Prater set the record with 75. In this new era with the longer PATs, it is unlikely Prater's record will ever be broken.

Dan Bailey, Cowboys: Led the NFL with 56 made PATs last year. The year before, Denver's Matt Prater set the record with 75. In this new era with the longer PATs, it is unlikely Prater's record will ever be broken.

Connor Barth, Broncos: Denver needed to create a roster spot for Evan Mathis, so they cut Barth and decided to go with Temple product Brandon McManus. McManus, who hit a 70-yard field goal in a live practice drill recently, was an erratic 2-for-5 on field goal attempts of 40+ yards last season. Keep an eye on McManus if you draft him.

Matt Bryant, Falcons: He and Adam Vinatieri have their byes in Week 10. So long as they don't screw up, they can be drafted and forgotten about for two-plus months.

Dan Carpenter, Bills: Had a hamstring issue early in camp, but he's fine now. Has had 131 and 133 points the last two years. Not bad for a guy on a team whose starting quarterbacks have been Thaddeus Lewis, EJ Manuel, Kyle Orton and Jeff Tuel.

Chandler Catanzaro, Cardinals: Coach Bruce Arians said earlier in camp that he's going to give Catanzaro more attempts at longer field goals this year. The Cards only tried three last season as Arians wanted to protect his rookie's confidence. Catanzaro made two 51-yarders and missed from 53.

Mason Crosby, Packers: Cold weather is not a problem for Crosby, who is an admirable 9-for-14 from 50+ the last two seasons.

Stephen Gostkowski, Patriots: Has led the league in scoring each of the last three years, which is why New England made him the highest-paid at his position (four years, $17.2 million). Most have Gostkowski as the No. 1 kicker, but New England not having Tom Brady for possibly four weeks is significant.

Garrett Hartley, Steelers: Is the man in Pittsburgh after incumbent Shaun Suisham wrecked his knee in the Hall of Fame Game.

Steven Hauschka, Seahawks: Seattle upgraded the offense with the addition of Jimmy Graham, which should mean even more work for Hauschka. His nickname, "Hausch Money," is one of the better ones.

Dustin Hopkins, Saints: In a battle with Zack Hocker for the job. Neither are much more than bye-week fodder, but here's hoping Hopkins wins it. Really don't want to have a guy named Hocker on my fantasy team.

Cody Parkey, Eagles: Bad weather could be a factor in each of the Birds' last five games (at New England, home against Buffalo, Arizona and Washington, at New York Giants) when those 33-yard PATs get trickier.

Caleb Sturgis, Dolphins: Fighting for a job with rookie Andrew Franks. Miami plays four of its final five at home with the other game at San Diego. Late-season weather will not be an issue.

Justin Tucker, Ravens: Had five missed field goals last year, all from 50+. Prior to 2014 he was 10-for-11 from 50+. His parody of Matthew McConaughey's creepy car commercials is on YouTube and worth checking out.

Adam Vinatieri, Colts: This year, Vinatieri will have been an Indianapolis Colt for as long as he was a New England Patriot (10 years). He also made a career best 96.8 percent of his field goals last year (30-for-31). Not bad for a guy who started playing in the NFL when Nelson Agholor was 3 years old.
