Eagles to open preseason with two home games

Dates haven't been revealed, but the first game will be against the Colts, followed by a game against Ravens.

WE DON'T know the exact dates, but the NFL announced its preseason games yesterday. The Eagles will open with two games at home, the first against the Indianapolis Colts somewhere between Aug. 13 and Aug. 17. Andrew Luck quarterbacks the Colts, of course, but they also feature longtime Eagles stalwarts Trent Cole and Todd Herremans, recently released by the Birds after 10 seasons here. They also have running back Frank Gore, who changed his mind about signing with the Eagles to go to Indy, a decision that might have led to the Birds' signing of DeMarco Murray.

The second game, between Aug. 20 and Aug. 24, will bring Audubon N.J.'s Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens to the Linc. Week 3 (Aug. 27-31) will feature a trip to Green Bay, and Week 4, as always, matches the Birds against the New York Jets, this time at MetLife Stadium, either Sept. 3 or Sept. 4.

The Eagles also will play at the Jets during the regular season. Those dates will be announced in a few weeks.

The past two seasons, the Eagles had a preseason game against New England and spent that week scrimmaging with the Patriots, but that isn't happening this year. The teams will meet in the regular season.
