NFL:

HOUSTON - Houston Texans owner Bob McNair says he's gotten a clean bill of health after a 10-month battle with two forms of cancer.

The 77-year-old McNair spoke about his ordeal at a news conference Thursday attended by his doctors and family members.

LeBron James got his football fix, showing up at the Browns' training camp with his two sons.

James spent nearly an hour on the sideline as the Browns went through a morning workout. It was the NBA superstar's first public appearance since re-signing with the Cavaliers last month.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton
is eager to test out his surgically repaired left ankle Friday night against the Buffalo Bills.

He's just not sure if he'll get that opportunity.

Newton said the plan is to follow the advice of team trainers and coaches when it comes to his availability for Carolina's preseason opener. He threw passes on the side during practice Thursday, but did not participate in team drills.
