The Eagles' offseason program begins on Monday, marking the start of a busy two months on the league calendar. The draft and organized team activities are quickly approaching.

Monday is what the NFL considers phase one, which lasts two weeks with activities limited to strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation. Attendance is voluntary. Some of the Eagles have been training at the NovaCare Complex on an informal basis, but Monday is the beginning of the official program.

Eagles guard Evan Mathis, a Pro Bowl player who would like a new contract, is expected to report to the voluntary workouts.

In phase two of the offseason program, the following three weeks will involve on-field workouts. They are limited to individual player instruction and the team practicing on a separate basis, meaning the offense and the defense cannot drill against each other. No live contact is permitted.

This period will include the draft, which takes place May 8-10. First-year players will report for a rookie camp from May 16-18, the third phase of the offseason program.

During the four-week final phase, teams are permitted 10 days of OTAs, which are full-team practices that do not allow live contact but permit seven-on-seven, nine-on-seven, and 11-on-11 drills.

The Eagles have OTAs from May 27-29, June 2-3, June 5, and June 9-12. The team is allowed to hold one mandatory minicamp, which will take place from June 17-19. That will be the final football activity before training camp begins in late July.

The Eagles have 68 players on the roster, which will expand to as many as 90 players after the draft. They still have almost $20.3 million in salary-cap space.
