The Eagles filled out their coaching staff on Monday, finalizing the hire of Bill Musgrave as quarterbacks coach, the promotion of Mike Dawson from defensive quality control coach to assistant defensive line coach, and the addition of Michael Clay in Dawson's former role.

The Inquirer reported the Musgrave and Dawson moves last week. Musgrave replaces Bill Lazor, who was hired as the Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator. Dawson replaces Erik Chinander, who was hired by Oregon as a defensive assistant.

Clay continues the Oregon-to-Eagles pipeline. The 22-year-old played linebacker for Chip Kelly at Oregon and was a valuable contributor in each of Kelly's four seasons as head coach. Kelly called Clay a "student of the game" and a "coach on the field" during Clay's senior season, and said Clay was able to recite the percentages of what opponents run in different situations.

Clay was signed by the Miami Dolphins last season, but did not make the team.

Musgrave, 46, will work closely with Nick Foles. He was previously the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator, and was an assistant with the Eagles in 1998. Dawson will now have more coaching responsibilities and be able to focus on the defensive linemen with line coach Jerry Azzinaro.
