The Eagles' big play X-ray
THE BIG PLAY X-RAY
THE PLAY: With 10:23 left in the game and the Eagles nursing a 21-20 lead, QB Nick Foles completes a short pass on second-and-10 from the 20 to WR Riley Cooper at the 24. Cooper jab-steps to the right, goes left, faking out Tampa Bay rookie cornerback Johnthan Banks, avoids safety Dashon Goldson and runs past linebacker Lavonte David. With David still in pursuit, Cooper is finally brought down by cornerback Leonard Johnson at the Bucs' 36.
THE SET-UP: Tampa Bay rookie QB Mike Glennon had just engineered a 16-play, 90-yard drive that stalled at the 9-yard line, and the Buccaneers had to settle for a field goal. Instead of trailing, 24-21, the Eagles maintained the lead. Getting the ball at their 20, the Eagles began their drive with a LeSean McCoy run for no yards. The next play was to Cooper.
THE X-RAY: Whatever momentum the Bucs had wrested from the Eagles on their long drive was gone two plays later. On the third play, Foles found DeSean Jackson for a 36-yard TD. The Bucs never threatened again.
THE STAT: On the Eagles' four touchdown scoring drives, Foles was 14-for-15 for 253 yards. His only incompletion came on the first drive when he hit rookie tight end Zach Ertz right in the hands, but Goldson jarred the ball loose.
THE QUOTE: Eagles coach Chip Kelly, on Foles: "I told him to let it rip. That's what we told him to do, and he did it."
