Eagles-Chargers: The Pick
I IMAGINE, since I predicted a double-digit Eagles loss last week, Birds fans would like to see me do that again, keep the mojo going, but I don't think I can. Even when I was looking at this as a six- or seven-win season (which it still might be, of course), I had this as one of the wins.
Philip Rivers could light up that still-suspect Eagles secondary, there's Antonio Gates and Malcom Floyd to account for, not to mention Ryan Mathews, but if you've been following the NFL the past few years, you know that Rivers has become as likely to blow a game as blow away an opponent. King Dunlap is protecting his blind side. Let me repeat that: King Dunlap is protecting his blind side.
I don't expect 30 Eagles plays in the first quarter, but if the Chargers are the team to shut down the Chip Kelly show, I'll be surprised. They're crossing the continent on a short week. Their defense has as many question marks as the home team's.
If you're worried I might jinx the outcome, tell you what, I'll take Andy and the Chiefs next Thursday.
Eagles 31, Chargers 23
