Eagles Notes: McCoy apparently tweaks knee during workout

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy left Monday's practice early with an apparent knee injury. McCoy stretched on the sideline at one point before leaving the practice field.

McCoy was spotted after practice walking through a NovaCare Complex hallway with a plate of food. He said the issue was with his knee. He did not appear to be limping or in pain.

The Eagles did not have an official report on McCoy's condition.

Bryce Brown took first-team snaps at running back in McCoy's absence. Chris Polk was the next running back in the rotation. Felix Jones, who signed last week, was also at practice.

Travel issues delayed several Eagles from arriving in Philadelphia for Monday's practice. Left tackle Jason Peters, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, cornerback Cary Williams, and safety Patrick Chung were absent because of weather issues affecting their travel. Each is expected to be a starter. Offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland also had travel issues and was not present.

Williams still has not practiced during OTAs. The cornerback got married and went on his honeymoon last week.

Curtis Marsh continued taking first-team snaps in place of Williams. Free-agent signee Ed Wang replaced Peters at left tackle. Filling in for Cox was Clifton Geathers, a 6-foot-8 defensive lineman acquired from the Indianapolis Colts for Stanley Havili.

Kurt Coleman started at safety with Chung missing. That meant Nate Allen and Coleman were back in the starting lineup. The Eagles continue easing Kenny Phillips into the rotation; the former Giants safety was with the second team.

The Eagles officially released rookie running back Miguel Maysonet and signed tight end Will Shaw, who participated in rookie minicamp two weeks ago in a tryout.

The decision to cut Maysonet was a curious one. The Eagles gave Maysonet an additional $10,000 above the wage scale for undrafted rookies to sign with the team, according to a source. He participated in rookie camp but was not at practice last week because of Stony Brook's academic calendar.

The 5-foot-9, 209-pound Maysonet rushed for nearly 2,000 yards and scored 21 touchdowns as a senior. The Eagles signed Jones last week, adding more competition at running back.

Shaw played at Youngstown State. He's listed at 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, and was on the field Monday wearing No. 47.
