Maclin came in as a burner but plays more like a possession receiver. He's similar to Avant but not as strong. D-Jax is also one dimensional. I can't figure out if these guys are adequate enough to take the team to the playoffs or not. The offensive design doesn't seem to get the WR's open like with other teams. Belichick can start two ham sandwiches at WR and they go to the Pro Bowl. If Maclin has 4th round trade value, I'd say let him go, but I don't think anyone would give up a 4th for him. Based on what he's done, he doesn't deserve big $$. Don't really think D-Jax did either.

I'd rather have Avant and Cooper starting than maclin and jackson. Maclin is soft and plays scared and Jackson is brittle.

What we need under the tree is a WR that demands to be double-teamed in all situations. D-Jax has to be accounted for over the top, but that is it. All of our receivers play a role, but none is dominant.

Personally, this organization would be even more f***ing nuts to get rid of Maclin. He's more consistent than Jackson, doesn't bring the extra baggage like Jackson and has a higher potential for long term success. He just needs someone to get him the ball not too mention better play calling in general. With a decent QB and I don't rule Foles out when using the word decent, I think he could be a receiver that's similar to, yeah, I'm sayin it....... Marvin Harrison. Hes not going to catch 100 or even 90 balls in a season but I wouldn't rule out 80rec, 1300yds. You can still bring in a taller WR and make it wok with all three. Sadly, that may eliminate or at the very least diminish Jason Avants role. Plus hopefully a new coach would put Jackson in the slot more often and get the mismatch.
However, I don't see the Eagles WR position as being "broken" or in lieu of repair. The offense ran 1, that's ONE fade pattern all year and guess what happened, Cooper grabbed it for a TD. It just seems funny that Cris Carters been gone for 20 years and since than and I'm just guessing here but It seems as if we've run it maybe a dozen or two times over the span of four coaches.
But again, WR is one of my last worries right now.

Macklin is twice the receiver Reggie Brown was! Horrible comparison!

Mr Softy, I mean Maclin has played his best football. That's it. That's all we get. Expect anything else, and you'll be looking for a new receiver. Greg Lewis has a better highlight reel than this guy (And that's not saying much)

WR position is the LEAST of our problems

I think any article talking about our recievers are irrelevent. O line, O line, O line... and that is it. On offense at least. Missing 4 of 5 starters on the line is BIG deal. It's not one of those positions where you can always just "plug someone in" and expect them to excel. A stud RT is all we need.

I guess everyone forgot about his illness last year which severely interrupted his development. Add to this that Vick has just flat out stunk the last two years and the terrible offensive line this year, and what you have is a guy who isn't getting the opportunity for that break out year. How good is Larry Fitzgerald this year without a reliable quarterback throwing to him? Getting rid of this guy would be idiotic. As for Jackson, the guy is as one dimensional as they come. If he can't go deep, he's very ordinary. And talk about soft. Jackson has no interest in the middle, which is why he's not a very good endzone player. Giving him that contract was a terrible decision. You don't give that kind of money to a guy who can't go over the middle. I'd take Maclin and Avant over him any day of the week.

Maclin can play, have no problem resigning him. Jackson, Maclin cooper and avant are a solid group. Their wrs are the least of their problems.

Another thing Maclin and Jackson "have in common": alligator arms and an unwillingness to take a hit going over the middle, or trying for extra yards. An offense can flourish with one WR of that ilk, but not their top two. DeSean Jackson, on several occasions this season, avoided contact, even running for the sideline short of going for a first down, when he would have taken a hit (check the first quarter of the first Washington game film). Maclin was much tougher in his rookie year. Seeing DeSean receive that big contract, even though he does not sell out for the team, taught Maclin all he needed to know about playing for the Eagles. Hopefully, a new head coach and offensive coordinator will not allow that soft play, and both of these guys will play up to their potential, or be gone.

The Eagles have plenty of talent at WR, RB, and even QB. You'd just never know it because they have no OL. Fix the real problem, and then you'll start seeing breakout seasons all over the place.

The suggestion that Maclin is somehow as disappointing as Reggie Brown because there are 7 players in NFL history with better numbers over their first four seasons is patently idiotic.

Maclin, Jackson, and Vick are what's wrong with this franchise. This over-hyped offense is A bust. They should find a track team to join...they are not football players...they are too small!

Get rid of both of them along with Vick and start over.

Receivers are fine, draft should focus on offensive line, safety and linebacker. Get a cornerback also.
