LANDOVER, Md. - LeSean McCoy sustained a concussion in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter of the Eagles' 31-6 loss to the Redskins on Sunday.

The Eagles trailed by 25 points after the two-minute warning when a running play was called for McCoy. After the game, coach Andy Reid defended keeping McCoy in the game despite the lopsided score.

"We were trying to catch up and win the game," Reid said.

McCoy appeared woozy in the locker room. There likely will be more information on his status on Monday.

Scott in for Watkins

The Eagles started veteran Jake Scott at right guard less than one week after signing him. Scott started in place of Danny Watkins, who was active but remained on the bench because of an injured ankle.

"We were just a little nervous on Danny's ankle," Reid said.

He added that Watkins was active in case of emergency.

Scott signed on Monday and has experience with offensive line coach Howard Mudd's technique. Scott committed two false starts in the first quarter. He said those were not attributable to his lack of time in the offense.

"It had nothing to do with it," Scott said. "It's just me. I needed to settle down, and I took care of that. That was all me. One hundred percent me."

Brown returns kicks

The Eagles inserted Bryce Brown as the kick returner in place of Brandon Boykin. Brown had three returns for 66 yards, with a long of 25 yards.

Boykin has been in that spot all season and has 27 returns for 593 yards, with an average of 22 yards and a long of 31 yards.

So Brown's return average on Sunday was identical to Boykin's average this season.

Curry remains inactive

The Eagles continue to sit second-round pick Vinny Curry, who has been inactive all season. Curry and Phillip Hunt were the two defensive ends who did not dress. The Eagles activated five defensive tackles and four defensive ends for the third consecutive game.

The other inactives were quarterback Michael Vick; wide receivers Jason Avant, Mardy Gilyard; running back Chris Polk; and tackle Nate Menkin.

Extra points

Brent Celek left the game with a head injury, but tests revealed that there were no issues. . . . Redskins fullback Darrel Young, a Villanova product, caught a six-yard touchdown in the first half. . . . The Eagles have 24 turnovers this season and have forced only 10.
