Poll finds divergent views on Eagles' Andy Reid, Michael Vick

Eagles head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Michael Vick are the two hot-button issues among Eagles fans, and an Inquirer poll revealed that Philadelphians believe Reid should have only 10 games remaining in his Eagles tenure and that Vick should stay as quarterback during that time.

Almost half of those interviewed believe this should be Andy Reid's last season, a sentiment that comes after 13 complete seasons without a Super Bowl victory. Reid, who is in his 14th season as the Eagles coach, has final say of the football operation and made every decision from the hiring and firing of defensive coordinator Juan Castillo to the signing of Vick.

In August, owner Jeffrey Lurie said the Eagles must demonstrate significant improvement for Reid to return for his 15th season, and that another season with an 8-8 final record would be unacceptable.

When surveyed about what Reid must do to keep his job, 18 percent of the 600 polled said he should not return regardless of how the Eagles do - more than any other answer.

However, even if the fans want Reid to go, there is support for Vick to stay as the quarterback during the rest of the season. Despite Vick's 13 turnovers this season, 42 percent of those surveyed believe he has done enough in the early portion of the season to keep his job. Vick, who signed a $100 million contract before the 2011 season, has endured questions about whether he will be benched. The Eagles have rookie Nick Foles as a potential replacement, an idea that gained traction after Foles excelled during the preseason.

The Eagles' have 10 games remaining in their season and are 3-3 at this point. Their start is considered fair by 25 percent of those surveyed, and that answer could change depending on how the Eagles play during the next few weeks. During that time, the futures of Reid and Vick will likely become clear, too.
