A contingent from the Eagles was in College Station, Texas, on Monday to watch Ryan Tannehill work out, a source close to the situation said.

The quarterback has been moving up draft boards after he threw for scouts last week during Texas A&M's pro day.

Tannehill's private session with the Eagles was first reported by Peter King of Sports Illustrated.

"I really don't know why," Tannehill told King. "I'll just get ready to throw for them and do my best."

Some analysts have Tannehill slotted as high as the fourth overall pick, which the Cleveland Browns own. If that turns out to be the case, the Eagles, who own the 15th pick, would have to move up considerably to get Tannehill.

It would appear the Eagles need a quarterback, at least another reserve behind Michael Vick. Mike Kafka and Trent Edwards are the current backups, but the Eagles don't have much money committed to either.

Drafting Tannehill, of course, would be a move toward the future.
