Vick, Maclin unlikely for Eagles-Seahawks game

Michael Vick and Jeremy Maclin sat out a light practice Monday, giving a preliminary indication that the Eagles could be going with Vince Young and Riley Cooper in the starting lineup again Thursday night.

Vick has not practiced in two weeks due to broken ribs, and the fact that he was unable to go through even a short, relatively easy workout on Monday is a bad sign for his availability this week. The Eagles have only one full practice - on Tuesday - before playing in Seattle Thursday night.

If the quarterback can't participate Tuesday, it's unlikely he will be able to play this week.

Vick said only, "It's getting better, that's all I can say."

Maclin, dealing with a shoulder separation and hamstring injury, has hardly practiced the last two weeks and has also missed the previous two games. Like Vick, his absence Monday doesn't augur well for his ability to play this week, though it might be easier for a wide receiver to slide into the lineup than a quarterback.

Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha was also out Monday after hyperextending his knee last week. The Eagles may have just been resting him. Asomugha was well enough to at least play in dime packages against the Patriots Sunday.

Tuesday's practice should give a clearer indication of who will play in Thursday's game. The team leaves for Seattle Wednesday.

Tackle King Dunlap (concussion) and linebacker Moise Fokou (ankle) were also out. Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie participated in part of practice but said he hasn't recovered enough to play this week.

The injury woes add to the concerns of a struggling team beset by angry fans, a public spat between coaches, sloppy play, and, now, a West Coast trip with little rest.

"My body hurt. I'm not going to lie to you, my body hurt," said defensive end Darryl Tapp.

Tapp said it usually takes until Wednesday to feel normal after a Sunday game. Others said it could take until Friday.

If losses continue to mount for the Eagles, they might have little to play for.

"Everybody was kind of down yesterday. But we've just got to find a way to maintain and play ball," said running back LeSean McCoy. "I think guys are still sticking together, encouraging one another."

"As a team we're all focused on what we need to do," said wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who was benched Sunday after dropping two potential touchdowns. "We have five games left, and give it our best effort regardless of our record or anything and just go out there and play hard. So that's our mind-set."

The Eagles are facing a 4-7 Seahawks squad that just dropped a home game to another East coast opponent with a losing record, the Redskins. (Washington, though, had a full week to prepare, and Seattle is probably looking at the Eagles as a wounded foe.)

Several Eagles said the short trip will help them turn the page on Sunday's loss. There is little time to focus on that game with another coming so quickly.

"That's all we're worried about," Jackson said. "We're not worried about anything behind us. We're moving forward and we're just going to go out there and try to win the game."
