Bet most of your money on first-half Eagles

EAGLES (-8) over 49ers: Everyone was a little annoyed with Double V last week when I suggested a light play on the Giants plus the points, and a second-half wager on the New Yorkers. Well, it worked out. The Giants won the second half by 15-3, which was an easy cover. It's obvious that the Birds will rise and fall with bumps and bruises of Michael Vick. When he is performing his magic act, the Eagles are as good as anyone. After all, they were leading in each of the two losses before Vick was knocked out. So, we're gonna get a little creative here, and recommend a light play on the Birds minus 8, but go all in on the Eagles in the first half. Vick should be able to stand up straight for at least 30 minutes. The first-half line will be somewhere around minus-5, and you can start filling out the deposit slip now.

Falcons (-4) over SEAHAWKS: After ripping off an NFC best 13-3 mark last year, it's kinda hard to believe Atlanta heads out West with a 1-2 record. But help is on the way; Seattle is on the other side of the field. The Seahawks, despite a playoff appearance last season, are just not very good. They have managed a grand total of 30 points in their first three games, and that just doesn't cut it. The 'Hawks have also been terrbile as an underdog, covering only nine of the last 26. The Falcons have been just the opposite as a favorite, covering 16 of the last 24. And if you're into déjà vu, last season, Atlanta flew out to Seattle and pounded the Seahawks, 34-18. Sounds like a Best Bet to me.

Dolphins (+7) over CHARGERS: Miami linebacker Jason Taylor said Chad Henne is more physically talented than Mark Sanchez. Taylor might have had a few too many energy drinks when he was quoted. Henne is capable (he was 15 of his first 17 against Cleveland Sunday) and Miami does do one thing well. What? The Dolphins have covered 10 of the last 12 as a road underdog, while San Diego is a perfect 0-3 against the spread so far this season.

Patriots (-4) over RAIDERS: VV has made a nice little bundle backing Oakland each of the first 3 weeks, but it's time to get off the Silver & Black. Tom Brady is coming to town and the Raiders are giving up more than 27 points per game. New England has covered nine of the last 12 on the road, and eight of the last 11 outside the AFC East. And while Oakland is a powerhouse in the AFC West, outside the division, the Raiders have covered only four of the last 15.

Jets (+3) over RAVENS: Rex Ryan spent a few years as the defensive coordinator at Baltimore and was upset when he was passed over for the top job in favor of John Harbaugh. Last season, he was looking for a little revenge in the opening game, but wound up on the short end of a 10-9 score against the Ravens. He might not get revenge this time, but expect the game to be just as close, as the New Yorkers add to a very solid 13-6 record as an underdog since 2008.

RAMS (+2) over Redskins: No matter how bad St. Louis has looked so far, there's no way that I'll be buying Washington as a favorite, not with its recent 1-9 record as a fave against the spread.

Colts (+10) over BUCCANEERS: Indy loses on Monday night and drops to 0-4, but the Colts will cover this double-digit spread just as they covered the 12-pointer against Pittsburgh Sunday night.

Lions (+1) over COWBOYS: Six FGs just ain't gonna get it done against this Detroit team that is averaging almost 34 ppg.

JAGUARS (+7) over Saints: New Orleans is working on an 0-3 run as a road underdog, so we'll lean to Jax.

Titans (+1) over BROWNS: Cleveland does not get the job done as a favorite, covering only two of the last nine.

BENGALS (+3) over Bills: Light touch to Cincy, but probably better if you stayed away from this contest.

CHIEFS (+1) over Vikings: KC has won seven of the last 10 at home and should find a W against Minny.

BEARS (-6) over Panthers: Even with Cam Newton, Carolina, winner of three of its last 19, still sucks.

Steelers (+4) over TEXANS: Have a tough time backing a Houston team that has covered only five of its last 15.

CARDINALS (+1) over Giants: Kevin Kolb to Larry Fitzgerald is enough for this home 'dog to bark.

Broncos (+13) over PACKERS: Double-digit 'dogs posted a perfect 2-0 spread record Sunday, so we'll tickle the Mile High kids.
