What We Saw

Each week, Daily News football writer Paul Domowitch tells you what he will be keeping an eye on during each Eagles game. Here is how things panned out last night:

1. Nowhere to run: While the Eagles continue to struggle against the pass, they had the run defense part down pat. They held the Giants' Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw to 3.2 yards per carry and had held their last 10 opponents to 3.8 yards per carry and 89.1 yards per game prior to last night. However, they were unable to stop the run as Adrian Peterson had 22 carries for 118 yards (5.4 yards per carry) and one touchdown. Vikings quarterback Joe Webb also used his feet effectively, running six times for 31 yards, including a 9-yard TD run in the third quarter.

2. Turnover machine redux: For the second straight week, the Eagles had the distinction of facing the league leader in giveaways. Coming into last night, the Vikings had 35 turnovers, including 10 in the last three games. But last night, the Eagles had three turnovers (two fumbles and an interception) to the Vikings' one (fumble). In the second quarter, the Vikings' Antoine Winfield returned a fumble by Michael Vick 45 yards for a touchdown.

3. Surfing the Webb: rett Favre suffered a concussion last week and didn't play last night. Rookie Joe Webb, making his first NFL start, was 17-for-26 for 195 yards. He didn't throw any touchdown passes, but didn't throw any interceptions, either.

4. Pass or fail: he Vikings' secondary didn't allow much in the way of big-play receptions. Michael Vick threw 21 passes to wide receivers and tight ends for a total of 222 yards, but hurled just one touchdown pass - a 3-yarder to Clay Harbor.

5. Bounce-back game for Dimitri: Cornerback Dimitri Patterson had a rough game against the Giants, giving up three touchdown passes in the first half. Last night, he played poorly again, getting beat on several occasions.
