Winston Justice: Winston Justice's favorite city eats

IT'S A SHORT WEEK so I don't have much time for a column. Instead, I thought I'd give you something a little off-topic (had this one prepared beforehand). As a 320-pounder, you know I must eat a lot. And I was given, or some would say cursed with, a wife who does not cook. So I eat out two, sometimes three meals a day. During this holiday season, I would like to highlight those great meals around town that have brought joy to my life and satisfaction to my ever-growing belly.

10Hummus at South Street Souvlaki. The walk-up counter you can order at always satisfies a quick fix, and it just so happens to be on my way home.

9The Beef Patty at Jamaican Jerk Hut. My family is from the West Indies and I grew up with this type of food.

8 The Crispy Calamari Salad at Buddakan. Since I am on a diet most of the year, I order it, minus the crispy fried part, and just get the calamari grilled. Although they tend to give me a hard time in the kitchen accommodating my strict diet, lately, this has been one of my favorites.

7 Popeye's Red Beans and Rice. Another great part of having rookies on the team, they bring in the away game grub.

6 The Pancakes at The Dutch Eating Place. I love the large, never-overcooked pancakes here at the Reading Terminal Market. And I always appreciate the service and friendly faces.

5 Paesano's Signature Sandwich. The beef brisket and egg. Wow! Nothing brings more satisfaction than the first bite of this sandwich. I can't wait to finish it.

4 Craig LaBan at the Inquirer, because without him, I wouldn't know where to eat. And because he honored me with my ultimate food experience of the year - an evening out while he was "working." I was such a fan, I asked if I could come out on a review. And nothing is better than ordering 15 or so items with the best critic in town.

3 Sunday Brunch at Lacroix. This is the family's favorite place to spend a holiday or pig out on a Sunday, which only happens in the offseason. The buffet keeps guys like me happy. Although it's pricey, you know I eat my money's worth.

2 The Justice For All Roll at Zama. Chef Zama combined a few of my favorite items, added a little wasabi for a kick and donates a portion of each sale to the children with disabilities charity, Variety.

1 Burger and Duck Fat Fries at Village Whiskey. Yes, it's sometimes oozing with grease, but this is my favorite burger in town. And I am a sucka for anything I can add an egg to.
