Eagles Notes: Eagles' Reid says Jackson has chance to play against Colts

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson passed his post-concussion test, coach Andy Reid said Monday on his radio show on WIP-AM (610).

Earlier in the day, Reid said that Jackson had yet to pass the test, but even then he felt the receiver had "a pretty good chance of being ready for the Colts game" on Nov. 7.

Reid also gave the same prognosis for tackle Jason Peters (knee) and defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley (elbow). Both have missed the last two games. Jackson took a devastating hit last week against Atlanta and sat out the Eagles' 37-19 loss to Tennessee on Sunday.

Even though he passed his test, Jackson isn't necessarily a shoo-in to play against the Colts. Receiver Riley Cooper initially passed a concussion test earlier this month, but he still missed two games as the Eagles followed league protocol for dealing with concussions.

Peters had arthroscopic knee surgery two weeks ago. Asked if Peters would be able to play an entire game upon his return, Reid said, "If you talk to the doctors and you talk to Jason, you'd say yes. But let's see."

King Dunlap has filled in for Peters at left tackle, but he, too, injured his knee. Dunlap hyperextended his knee against the Titans and has a bone bruise. Reid did not sound optimistic about getting Dunlap back in time for the Colts game.

If neither Peters nor Dunlap can play, Todd Herremans would slide over from left guard.

Reid said that if Bunkley returns, he won't be 100 percent. Antonio Dixon has excelled as Bunkley's replacement. He had seven tackles, one sack, another tackle for a loss, and two batted passes in the Titans game.

"Antonio will probably be in there a majority of the time anyway, and we'll just have to kind of spoon-feed [Bunkley] in and see how much he can do," Reid said. "Dixon - again, he was a bright spot in this game, [and] really, the last few weeks."

Michael Vick is Reid's starting quarterback.

But will Vick recover from his rib cartilage injury in time to start the Colts game, which comes after a bye week?

"I'm thinking he is, but listen, I have full trust in Kevin Kolb, as does our football team," Reid said. "I'm not too worried about all that. But right now, it looks like he's on track."

Vick told a Virginia Beach radio station Monday that he's "90 to 95 percent, and with another week, I'll be 100 percent."

After back-to-back victories and two straight performances with a 100-plus passer rating, Kolb took a step back against Tennessee, completing just 54 percent of his passes, tossing two interceptions, and finishing with a 56.9 rating.

If Vick is indeed ready to go in 12 days, it may be a while before Kolb has the opportunity to take a step forward again.

"I talk to both of those guys every day, so they kind of know where I'm at," Reid said when asked about he's handling his top two quarterbacks. "And that's what I think is the important part of it."

The Eagles' 58 penalties were third worst in the NFL heading into Monday night's Cowboys-Giants game, and their 558 penalized yards were the league's worst. . . . Photographers captured a heated exchange between Dunlap and offensive coordinator Juan Castillo during the Titans game. The cause of the argument was unknown, but the two were seen patching things up in the locker room after the game. . . . Reid is 5-7 the week before a bye. He's 11-0 the week after.
