Indications are that wide receiver DeSean Jackson is changing agents, and will become a client of Drew Rosenhaus.
Weakside linebacker Akeem Jordan did not practice yesterday because of an injury to his right knee, and it appears unlikely that he'll be able to play Sunday against the San Diego Chargers.

So what will the Eagles do?

"We have a variety of things we're messing with there," coach Andy Reid said. "It just depends on personnel groups. I'm not going to go into all of the different looks. We'll move on, and the other guys will have an opportunity to step up and play."

Tracy White is listed behind Jordan on the Eagles' depth chart at weakside linebacker and has been playing on passing downs this season. He said he thought he would continue in that role against the Chargers, with middle linebacker Will Witherspoon moving to the weakside position in the Eagles' base defense.

That makes sense because Witherspoon played weakside linebacker for the St. Louis Rams before being traded to the Eagles last month. His first three starts with the Eagles were at middle linebacker after Omar Gaither was lost to a season-ending foot injury.

It appears Chris Gocong will get his first career start at middle linebacker. Gocong, who sat out Sunday's loss to Dallas because of injuries to his right quadriceps and hamstring, has 31 career starts, all at strong-side linebacker, but he has taken practice reps at middle linebacker.

Rookie Moise Fokou will likely make his second straight start at strong-side linebacker. He started Sunday against Dallas in place of Gocong, but he did not practice yesterday because he was sick.

The only other healthy linebacker on the Eagles' roster right now is Joe Mays, and he said he did not think he was going to be the starter against the Chargers.

Jackson changing agents. It won't be official for a few more days, but a team source confirmed yesterday that wide receiver DeSean Jackson is in the process of replacing DeBartolo Sports with Drew Rosenhaus as his agent.

Jackson, who has two years remaining on the rookie deal he signed before last season, declined comment when asked about the situation yesterday.

Players, according to NFLPA rules, must wait five days to hire a new agent after dismissing their old one. Jackson's name was not listed yesterday in the agent section of the NFLPA Web site, which is what happens when a player is changing agents.

Westbrook update. Brian Westbrook did not practice yesterday because of his sore right ankle, but Reid said he expected the veteran running back to return today. He said Westbrook's absence was not related to the concussion that has kept him out of the team's last two games.

Extra points. Tackle Jason Peters and fullback Leonard Weaver missed practice yesterday because of sprained ankles. . . . Reid said wide receiver Kevin Curtis has returned to the team after undergoing knee surgery in Utah last month. Curtis will not play against the Chargers. . . . Quarterback Donovan McNabb was asked again about the Eagles' inability to win close games over the last three seasons. "It's an unfortunate situation . . . but there is nothing I can do about the past," he said. "You can only change the future."

Once again, a non-dead journalist would ask "Since you are now so thin at linebacker, where does Trotter fit in all this?" (iao).

Trotter fits nowhere, except as coach. Loved him when he played for us before, but he's past the point of no return.
