Free-agent defensive back Ty Law, who played for the New York Jets last season, agreed to terms on a deal with the Denver Broncos.

Law, 35, is expected to sign today if he passes a physical exam.

The Broncos will host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night.

Law, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, played with the New England Patriots before his brief stint with the Jets.

Colts. Indianapolis cornerback Marlin Jackson (torn right-knee ligament) and strong safety Bob Sanders (torn left biceps), a two-time Pro Bowler, were lost for the season.

Giants. Riding a three-game losing streak, New York decided to insert Aaron Rouse into the starting lineup at safety for tomorrow's game against the San Diego Chargers.

Rouse will replace beleaguered veteran C.C. Brown, who was beaten twice on deep passes for touchdowns during the losing streak.

NFL fines. Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Johnny Jolly, cornerback Al Harris and rookie defensive tackle B.J. Raji were fined $5,000 each by the league yesterday for actions in Sunday's loss to Minnesota.

Jolly was fined for unnecessary roughness for head-butting Minnesota running back Chester Taylor. Harris was fined for unnecessary roughness for grabbing a helmet opening to make a tackle, and Raji was fined for a major face-mask violation.

Arizona defensive tackle Darnell Dockett was hit for $5,000 for helmet-to-helmet contact in a game with Carolina, and Panthers tight end Jeff King was fined the same amount for striking an opponent late.

Cleveland linebacker Kamerion Wimbley was fined $7,500 for roughing the passer when he struck Chicago's Jay Cutler in the face. Indianapolis linebacker Clint Session was fined $5,000 for roughing the passer, having struck 49ers quarterback Alex Smith in the knee area.
