Sheldon Brown vs. Birds
Earlier [yesterday], news broke that Sheldon Brown wanted out of Philadelphia. I speculated that the Eagles wouldn't trade Brown, but I didn't expect the Birds to respond to quickly and forcefully.
I don't know what's more shocking, the beatdown they gave Brown or the fact that the Eagles actually responded publicly at all? Score one for the Eagles, but this should only further anger Brown. I would expect a holdout now.

Those are some harsh words by the Birds, but I can see where they're coming from. I see Sheldon's side, too. This is a real tricky situation. Hopefully it will just pass over, but hearing words like that most likely won't win Sheldon's attitude over.

Bye-bye, Sheldon. Hanson will be your new starting CB. . . . I'm OK with it, actually. They paid Hanson starter's money. If you can get a late second- or third-[round pick] for him, I say do it. . . . I think he is gone.

So, according to everything that we both know, he is not gone. He is still an Eagle and will remain one until at least the end of the season. There is no one that can replace Sheldon Brown's ability as a CB, and I wish he would shut his face. Strong words from the Eagles. They aren't happy.

He's a shutdown corner, and Asante is overrated, and Lito and Dawk are gone. Lock him up.

They don't like how he went public, but they sure had no problem firing back in the public eye. It does seem out of the norm for them. As usual, there is something more here than meets the eye.

With what they've done in the off-season, I think the Birds are really giving this a shot this year, and I don't see how moving him will benefit at all to this year's team.
