Talking Points
Red-hot Akers: In the sterile, climate-controlled Metrodome, David Akers booted four field goals, including a 51-yarder. He's converted 24 of his last 27 attempts over the last 11 games.
Guess who's staying? Jeff Lurie told the Boston Globe that the club has every intention of keeping Donovan McNabb as its starting quarterback in 2009. His solid, 23-for-34, 300-yard performance against the Vikings pretty much cemented that.
The other part of the story: Yes, Brian Westbrook put the game on ice when he took a screen pass 71 yards for a TD. But on his other 22 touches, he managed just 50 yards. In the last four games, he's averaged just 3.0 yards per carry. They need better to beat the Giants.
Money well spent: The Eagles have squandered their fair share of money on free-agent busts over the years. But Asante Samuel has been worth every penny the Birds gave him. He proved that again with a 44-yard interception return for a touchdown.
