In a decision released late yesterday, the FCC ruled that Comcast discriminated against the NFL Network by agreeing to carry the channel only on a more expensive sports cable service. The NFL filed the complaint against Comcast in May.
The FCC ruling now goes before an administrative law judge, who could force Comcast to carry the NFL programming at a certain price.
NFL fines. The league fined Arizona strong safety Adrian Wilson $25,000 for a hit Sunday on Buffalo quarterback Trent Edwards.
Ronnie Brown and two Miami teammates were fined $10,000 each for excessive celebrating after Brown scored a touchdown Sunday against San Diego.
And the NFL fined Minnesota cornerback Antoine Winfield $10,000 for his celebration of a touchdown Monday night against New Orleans. Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway was fined $7,500 for pulling the face mask of Reggie Bush even though he was not penalized.
Ex-Broncos and the law. Former Denver running back Travis Henry is scheduled to appear Oct. 30 in U.S. District Court in Billings, Mont., on cocaine-trafficking charges stemming from an arrest with a codefendant, James Mack, in what police said was an undercover drug deal on Sept. 30 in the Denver area.
Meanwhile, an arrest warrant was issued in Centennial, Colo., for former Broncos wide receiver David Kircus after he failed to appear for a court hearing.
His lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, said Kircus didn't know he needed to be present. Kircus pleaded not guilty to a felony assault charge stemming from a fight at a party in suburban Denver in May 2007.
