Tony Leonard is the grounds director for Lincoln Financial Field, and, yes, he has heard about this storm called Hanna that is scheduled to dump a bunch of rain on his playing surface today, some of it while Temple hosts Connecticut in the Owls' home opener.
Leonard said yesterday that the much-discussed DD GrassMaster surface should be just fine when the Eagles and the Rams take the field tomorrow at 1 p.m. for their season opener.
"The field's in great shape," said Leonard, who said he has activated the system that draws moisture out of the playing surface, in advance of the storm.
Leonard said the field will be covered by a tarp until the Temple game, which kicks off at noon, then the tarp will go back on until the rain ends.
"We've been monitoring this throughout the week," he said. *
