Redskins. Jason Taylor characterized his split from the Miami Dolphins as amicable as he was officially introduced in Washington.
The defensive end, who was acquired from Miami for two draft picks the day before, arrived in town and underwent a physical.
"As an athlete, you want to win," Taylor said.
"The reason I play the game is to win, and I think the organization here and the Washington Redskins give me a great chance to win this year."
Taylor said he was committed to playing for at least the two seasons remaining on his contract.
Buccaneers. Tampa Bay reserve safety Donte Nicholson was Tasered twice and arrested during a weekend scuffle with police officers at the entrance of a St. Petersburg, Fla., nightclub.
The third-year pro, who appeared in one game last season, was taken to Pinellas County Jail early Sunday and charged with misdemeanor battery and resisting arrest without violence.
He was released after posting $300 bond.
The Bucs had no immediate comment on the arrest.
Jets. New York placed disgruntled tight end Chris Baker on the active physically-unable-to-perform list.
Baker, angry that the Jets have refused to renegotiate his contract, missed a portion of minicamp last month after tweaking his back during practice.
49ers. San Francisco coach Mike Nolan said guard Larry Allen, an 11-time Pro Bowler, might reconsider retirement and return for a 15th NFL season.
Signings. The New York Giants signed second-round draft choice Terrell Thomas, a cornerback from Southern Cal. . . . The Carolina Panthers signed third-round draft pick Charles Godfrey, a cornerback from Iowa who will play free safety, and seventh-rounder Geoff Schwartz, an offensive tackle at Oregon. . . . The New England Patriots signed free-agent tackle Anthony Clement, along with third-round picks Shawn Crable, a linebacker from Michigan, and quarterback Kevin O'Connell, from San Diego State. . . . The Arizona Cardinals signed second-round pick Calais Campbell, a defensive end out of Miami, to a four-year deal. . . . The Denver Broncos signed center Kory Lichtensteiger, their fourth-round pick from Bowling Green State, then waived running back Mike Bell and kicker Garrett Hartley. . . . The Kansas City Chiefs signed third-round draft picks Jamaal Charles, a running back from Texas, and Brad Cottam, a tight end from Tennessee, to three-year deals.
