Hamilton County (Ohio) Municipal Court Judge Richard Bernat ruled that Henry be released from electronic monitoring and house arrest to travel for the tryouts, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. The newspaper reported that Bernat had denied the request until yesterday.
Henry must have a letter from NFL teams before he is allowed to travel for the tryouts, the Enquirer reported.
"We're willing to give him some latitude given the fact that he obviously needs to find some employment," Bernat said.
Henry, 24, has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of assault and criminal damaging dating to March, when a University of Cincinnati student told police that Henry punched him in the head and damaged his car.
Henry was suspended by the NFL for eight games last season because of earlier arrests. The Bengals released him last month.
* Former Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Darrion Scott was charged with assault and accused of holding a plastic dry-cleaning bag over the head of his 2-year-old son.
Scott was charged in Hennepin County (Minn.) Court with third-degree assault and domestic assault by strangulation, both felonies.
According to the complaint, the boy's mother said Scott said he was playing with the child and wanted to see if the boy could get the bag off his head himself.
Scott remains in jail, with bond set at $100,000. His first court appearance is scheduled today.
The 26-year-old Scott is a free agent after spending the past four seasons with the Vikings.
* NFL Network filed its complaint with the Federal Communications Commission against cable TV giant Comcast.
The network announced April 17 that it had served Comcast with the required notice of its intent to file a complaint. NFL Network is accusing the nation's largest cable operator of discriminatory and anticompetitive treatment in violation of the Cable Act of 1992.
The two sides have been feuding over Comcast's decision to place NFL Network on a premium sports tier that customers must pay extra to receive. NFL Network contends in the complaint that Comcast is engaging in discriminatory and anticompetitive conduct because it includes less-popular national sports channels it owns, Versus and Golf Channel, on a basic tier.
* The Chicago Bears released veteran strong safety Adam Archuleta, ending a brief and disappointing tenure with the team.
Archuleta, 30, broke a hand early last season and started in just 10 of the 15 games in which he appeared. He lost his starting job to Brandon McGowan and finished the season on special teams.
The Bears acquired Archuleta from Washington in March 2007 for a sixth-round draft pick.
* Washington Redskins receiver Antwaan Randle El had arthroscopic knee surgery and is expected to recover in time for training camp. *
