Cowboys appear ready to roll over Rams

COWBOYS (-13) over Rams

Normally, we would try to make a case for the underdog and grab the double digits, but after looking at the problems surrounding St. Louis, we just can't. Problem 1: Last season, Steve Jackson led the NFL in total yards from scrimmage, but will miss this week because of a partial tear of his groin. Problem 2: Orlando Pace, the seven-time Pro Bowl tackle is gone, as is starting guard Mark Setterstrom. Problem 3: Offense, or rather no offense. The Rams have scored a grand total of 32 points in their first three games. Problem 4: Dallas has roared out of the starting gate with a 3-0 mark, covering all three, and outscoring its opponents, 116-65. With the offense scoring the most points in the league, and the defense forcing a league-best 10 turnovers, the 'Boys appear to be at least two dozen better here.

CHARGERS (-11) over Chiefs

Sitting and waiting for the explosion, that's what San Diego backers are doing this week. Norv Turner can't possibly screw this team up so quickly. Not a team that went 14-2 in the regular season in 2006. It's a good thing the Chargers are back at home, where they have won nine of their last 10 and beaten Kansas City the last 3 years. After looking at the sad state of the KC offense, it should be even easier this time around. The Chiefs' offense has put only 26 points on the board the first three games, which is 31st in the NFL. KC also has had problems covering on the road, posting an 8-17 record against the spread the last few years. Overall, the Chiefs have covered only four of their last 12, and will be on the wrong end of a 35-10 blowout.

Texans (-3) over FALCONS

Two words here: Matt Schaub. Atlanta stepped out on a limb before the draft and traded Schaub to Houston, figuring that Michael Vick would take most snaps. Well, with prison looking like an option for Vick, the Falcons inserted Joey Harrington into the starting role. Results: 0-3. With Schaub guiding the troops, the Texans are 2-1, 3-0 against the spread, and should get out of the Georgia Dome with another W.

LIONS (+3) over Bears

Changing QBs from Rex Grossman to Brian Griese ain't the answer. Chicago's offense is still pathetic. And now that wicked defense is starting to crack. The Bears gave up 34 to Dallas Sunday, and are already rolling without S Mike Brown and NT Dusty Dvoracek. Now, DT Tommie Harris, LB Lance Briggs and CB Nathan Vasher could all be riding the pine. Not a good sign against a Detroit offense that looks pretty potent.

Eagles (-2) over GIANTS

Can it get any better for Donovan McNabb than 21 of 26 for 381 yards, four touchdowns and a ridiculous 56 points? If Brian Westbrook is close to full speed, the Birds will make it four W's in their last five at Giants Stadium.

49ERS (+2) over Seahawks

San Francisco is not quite ready for a trip to the playoffs, but against Seattle, the Niners rock. Last season, the 49ers picked up a 24-14 win at Seattle and posted a 20-14 W at home. Then you take a look at the Seahawks' ugly spread record on the road lately (6-13), throw in Shaun Alexander's broken wrist, and you have the perfect recipe for a mini-upset.

Jets (-3) over BILLS

Great expectations in Buffalo have turned into an 0-3 record with no help on the horizon. J.P. Losman is gone, the defense has lost three starters, and the Jets have covered five of their last six as favorites.
