The Vick-Foles debate will enter another week

POSTED: Tuesday, November 27, 2012, 1:43 AM

Who would make the best Eagles coach?
Jon Gruden
Mike Holmgren
Chip Kelly
David Shaw

Michael Vick still has not been cleared, so Andy Reid can continue to evade the question of whether Vick will be the starter when he returns from a concussion.

"We have to get him healthy here to see where he's at," Reid said. "He took another test today and he didn't pass it. I'm not going to put him at risk. I'm not going to do that. That's not where we're going with this thing."

The decision will not be simple. Reid does not look like he'll coach beyond the next five games, but Foles' development could be meaningful for the long-term future of the franchise. The balance between playing young players and veteran players will be an ongoing subplot to the final month of the season.

"You saw some young guys play today," Reid said. "If the young guys are available to play, we're going to put them in and play them. If that's the situation, I'm not going to hestitate to do that. But we'll see how things go here as we continue to roll on."

For his part, Foles said Vick is the quarterback and offered his support of the veteran quarterback. And he also insisted that he's not worried about trying to prove to Eagles brass -- a group that could include the future head coach -- whether he can become a starting quarterback in the NFL.

"I don't think specifically about that," Foles said. "My goal when I go to work is to be the best teammate, best player possible and to work at my craft, work every day to get better. If you do that, whatever happens, happens. That's how it goes. I don't really worry about things I can't control. All I can control is getting better."

Will the Eagles win another game this year? They looked pathetic against a bad team on national television. Can't wait for spring training.
    Time's yours.

Only a fool would want Vick back. The Birds were 29th in total O with him. After 10 years he has has all the experience he needs. He is an excellent college QB, too bad this is the NFL. Foles needs snaps, if for no other reason than to find out if they need to move up in the draft for a QB. He made some rookie mistakes but the hard counts and audibles were encouraging. Also, the Birds didn't have to burn time outs to explain the plays to him, like they did with Vick and McNabb.

Foles stinks. New coach for Vick would be best.

Vick sucks....Vick is an awful 11-17 the past three years...Vick has LOST FIVE GAMES IN A ROW....Vick is an old washed-up 33 year old loser....Eagles need to play the 22 year old rookie Foles the last 5 games and he will get better and better each game.

Vick-Foles? Neither. They need a new coach who will re-build the team.

I'd be satisied with Ron Jaworski's evaluation of the youngster. I'd be satisfied with Jaws' choice of head coaches. I would trust that as VP of football operations Jaws would take the organization in a positive direction and return some pride in the team to this fan base. PLEASE HIRE JAWS FIRST!

Kitkat, thats funny, the majority of the Philly population is convicted felons or criminals in some way. Especially the fans. You know it. Just trying to justify the life of crime for the average fan and put it all on one man. Do what you do best, hide behind the truth.

Foles started only his SECOND NFL GAME EVER, and Foles did well....Foles completed 80% of his passes, yes 80% completions, and Foles managed a very strong running game to perfection....plus Foles is only 22 years old and will get better and better each game that he plays.

Really? Yes, 80% throwing 5 yards. He only had 119 yards & his best 4 throws were right to the Panthers who dropped them out due to the INT being too perfect for the opposing team. Then you said he managed the running game well...next wk you'll give Foles credit for managing the turf thickness.
