Maclin and Dunlap out for Cards game

POSTED: Friday, September 21, 2012, 11:43 AM

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and tackle King Dunlap are out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Eagles coach Andy Reid said Friday.

Rookie Damaris Johnson is expected to start in Maclin's place. Demetress Bell will take Dunlap's starting spot at left tackle.

Maclin suffered a hip pointer against the Ravens, his second such injury of the season. Dunlap suffered a hamstring strain on Sunday.

FROM EARLIER:

Neither Jeremy Maclin nor King Dunlap was in shells or wearing a helmet at the beginning of Friday's practice, an indication that they aren't practicing. Practice is closed to reporters after warm-ups, so it's difficult to gauge what their participation was thereafter.

Andy Reid updates reporters after practice. Follow Birds' Eye View for updates.

Eagles already have enough smurfs at WR, but Johnson is a playmaker. He gets separation and catches it when thrown to him. As for Bell, he played better than Dunlap against Baltimore. He has a HUGE task this week in stopping Campbell and Dockett. Good luck kid.

I agree with you about Johnson. The key word being " separation". I can only hope he and Vick are on the same page and Vick quickly develops the ability to LOFT the football in areas of tight coverage, especially when defenders undercut a receivers route, and lose the flat-line trajectory passes opponents depend on him to throw which, IMO, accounts for most, if not all, of his turn overs. Will he ever learn every pass doesn't have to be a "burner"? Sometimes 'touch' passes are just as effective.

Jeremy needs to get healthy for our favorite team from North Jersey on 09/30.

Demaris Johnson has big play potential but he seems to drop a lot of balls from what I've seen. DeSean needs a big day against the Cardinals.

DeSean needs to have a big day because he screwed the team over against Arizona last year with his suspension. Time to pay make amends.

lol, I hope that is just sarcasm. Really. They have 5'8 Mardy Gilyard, 5'9 Desean Jackson, and 5'8 Damaris Johnson. They have some of the SMALLEST WIDE RECIEVERS IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE. GET SOME KNOWLEDGE PLEASE. I am just going to let the dumb fans hype this team and then they lose so Reid will finally be fired. The low fan IQ is detrimental to winning.

Kolb has to be chomping at the bit to get at the Eagles. It would be huge for him to strut off with a W. Lets hope that doesn't happen. Watched some of the Giants game last night. Someone needs to smack that little B Eli off the top of the mountain, he is making it look like Playstation out there. Makes me sick.

It's hard to believe that we waived Danny Amondola just a couple of years ago. What a nice piece he'd be when a Macklin goes down.

Forget Amendola, what about Gibson. They traded him right before final cuts for nothing and he is legit.
