How App(t): Gift of the Eagles Cheerleaders

Nothing says "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" quite like  the arrival of the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders 2012 Calendar Mobile App at the miraculously low-low price of $1.99.

Might even make us forgive and forget how disappointingly their namesake team has been playing this season.

The Eagles cheerleaders calendar app.

Launched this week on the Android Marketplace and coming soon to the iTunes Store (pending Apple approval), the app is a first of its kind for the NFL and our team. So, too, were the old school print calendars which the Eagles cheer-ladies previously served up in lingerie and then "eco-friendly" swimsuit editions.

Now you get to keep all 36 of the bikini-clad lovelies close at hand, on  your breast- or pants-pocketed mobile. And because  smart phones are multi-media friendly,  you get to enjoy the winsome wimmin in both glamorous high resolution still photos and equally slick, artfully shot,  short  video clips. For the latter,  the girls slink around in lush outdoorsy settings (Bartram Gardens gets a big "thank you" in the credits) and tug purposefully at their bikini strings to, um, even out the tan lines.

And did I mention, there's actually a calendar in the Eagles Cheerleaders 2012 Swimsuit Calendar App?  But only a dozen of the beauties - Cheryl, Sarah, Marissa, Michelle, Amanda Grace, Ivelisse, Casey, Danielle, Corinne, Cat, Courtney and  Arielle - get to participate, serving as background material.

Guys can thus try to justify this phone download to your main squeeze as "a practical  tool for keeping track of the date." And yes, ten percent of the purchase price is being donated to the Clean Water Fund. So you can feel good about that.

But it would certainly have helped (in the excuses department) if there was actually some planner or notes-taking functionality in the app. And be forewarned, dudes -  once you've clicked off the calendar overlays, leaving just the images of the bountious binkinied babes,  restoring the days and dates portion to  the screen is not accomplished instantly. Takes several clicks of a back arrow key.
