The Eagles traded veteran offensive lineman Allen Barbre to the Denver Broncos for a 2019 conditional draft pick, a move that was made before they were set to officially release Barbre. Although they announced earlier in the day that Barbre was released, the move was not going to be official until Wednesday evening. The Broncos were able to get the experienced lineman from the Eagles before he hit the open market.

The salary cap implications are the same as before — the Eagles save $2.1 million against the salary cap and absorb a $150,000 cap hit.

The Eagles released veteran offensive lineman Allen Barbre on Wednesday, a move that comes one day before the first full-team practice and hours after offensive coordinator Frank Reich said Isaac Seumalo would enter training camp as the starting left guard.

Barbre, 33, has been with the Eagles since 2013 and started 29 games. He started all 28 games he played the past two seasons and was the team's primary left guard. Even if Seumalo is the top left guard, Barbre could have fit as the top reserve guard/tackle because of his experience at both spots. He split time with Seumalo during minicamp, but sat with a calf injury during OTAs.

"Allen Barbre is a pro's pro," Eagles executive Howie Roseman said in a team-issued statement. "Not only did he help the team with his solid play as a starter at left guard, but his ability to step up and play multiple positions helped us battle through some difficult situations. We had a conversation yesterday and agreed it made sense to allow him to pursue some other opportunities, but the door is open for him to return here as well."

By releasing Barbre, the Eagles save $2.1 million against the cap while taking a $150,000 salary cap hit.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai is the team's top backup tackle, with Stefen Wisniewski and Chance Warmack as the top backup interior linemen. Matt Tobin can also play tackle and guard.
