Seahawks corner back from suspension
Thurmond was activated Friday ahead of Sunday's game against St. Louis, adding another talent to Seattle's secondary.
Thurmond spent the last four weeks working out on his own and said Friday he was appreciative of his teammates for understanding he made a mistake.
Byron Maxwell has started at cornerback with Thurmond out and played well enough that he will continue to be Seattle's starter Sunday vs. the Rams.
Gone for good?
Tony Gonzalez is having a harder time saying goodbye to the NFL than he imagined. As he prepares to host 40 family members and friends in Atlanta's season finale, Gonzalez sounded as if he isn't entirely ready to walk away.
When the Falcons announced in March that he would return, the 13-time Pro Bowl tight end was "100 percent certain" he would retire after the season.
Now Gonzalez, 37, wonders if he could change his mind again if Atlanta returns to playoff contention next fall and general manager Thomas Dimitroff gives him a call.
Two out for K.C.
Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has a concussion and linebacker Tamba Hali has a swollen knee, and both have been ruled out for Sunday's game at San Diego.
The Chiefs are expected to rest most of their starters anyway against the Chargers. Kansas City is already assured the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs.
Staying with Bears
Robbie Gould saw no reason to shop around.
The Chicago Bears announced a four-year extension with Gould, locking in one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history through the 2017 season.
