Talkin' about the Tour

All right, you knew this was coming eventually. The road goes up in the Tour de France today, and I'm sure both of you will be tuned into the coverage of the first mountain stage on Versus this morning. Lance Armstrong's Team Astana is controlling the overall race, with Armstrong holding a slight lead over teammate Alberto Contador, the race favorite. The route today has a Category 1 climb midway through the long stage, then finishes with a "beyond category" climb to the finish, atop a ski station at 7,200 feet. This stage could show whether Armstrong really intends to challenge his younger teammate. Still early in the race, but this will be fascinating.

Did you really say fascinating?

That was the word I chose, yes.

With all due respect, I don't share your fascination with the TDF, but if Armstrong wants to challenge his teammate, that dude should watch out. Armstrong rips through challenges like a weed whacker through a dandelion.

I'm sure Frank is getting in his mileage on those Category 2 climbs in Broomall. Francis, surely you have an appreciation for the drama of this sport.

Does Armstrong ride a Huffy?

No, but he usually rides in a huff.

I don't watch sports corrupted by drugs. Only baseball.

All right. Be that way. But don't come asking me about Andy Schleck next week.
