Villanova's Reynolds, Duke's Zoubek bypassed in NBA draft

Scottie Reynolds made history Thursday night, though not for the reason the former Villanova star guard would have preferred. Reynolds, a 6-foot-2 senior who was the school's second all-time leading scorer with 2,222 points, became the first Associated Press all-American not selected in the NBA draft since the league merged with the ABA in 1976.

Reynolds was not among the four all-Americans who were drafted, all of whom were chosen in the top five.

Reynolds led Villanova to a top 10 ranking his senior season which ended in disappointment with a second-round loss to St. Mary's. He averaged 18.2 points and 3.3 assists last season.

Also bypassed in the draft was former Haddonfield High center Brian Zoubek, who emerged as a role player on Duke's national championship run.

Zoubek will play for the New Jersey Nets' summer league team in Orlando, Fla., next month. Temple's Ryan Brooks said he will play for the 76ers in that summer league.

Rider's Ryan Thompson (Lenape High) heads to Orlando, where he'll play for the Boston Celtics. After that, he'll join the Sacramento Kings in the Las Vegas Summer League. His older brother, Jason, also played at Rider and was chosen 12th overall by the Kings in 2008.

La Salle guard Rodney Green will play for the Celtics in Orlando. He averaged 18.5 points, 5.1 assists and 4.3 assists his senior year.
