Courtney Paris of Oklahoma yesterday became the first four-time all-American in women's college basketball, and sophomore Maya Moore of Connecticut was a unanimous selection in her second appearance on the Associated Press' all-American team.
They were joined on the first team by Connecticut's Renee Montgomery and fellow seniors Angel McCoughtry of Louisville and Kristi Toliver of Maryland.
Epiphanny Prince of Rutgers was named to the third team, and Laura Kurz of Villanova and Germantown Academy earned honorable mention.
Oklahoma 74, Purdue 68 - Paris will get the chance to back up her national championship guarantee in the women's Final Four.
Paris posted 19 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks as top-seeded Oklahoma (32-4) surged ahead in the second half to beat sixth-seeded Purdue (25-11) in the Oklahoma City Regional for the second trip to the Final Four in school history.
Kimmel transferring. Temple's Lindsay Kimmel, a 6-foot sophomore guard and three-point shooting specialist, has been given her release to transfer, several sources familiar with her decision said last night.
Villanova is one of the schools Kimmel is considering, according to a source, but she would have to sit out a year under NCAA eligibility rules. The native of Binghamton, N.Y., averaged 5.1 points and hit 44 of 131 treys this season.
