Temple will face Tulane in AAC tournament opener

The Owls are the No. 7 seed after Sunday's 76-58 loss at Tulane.

During an up-and-down season, Temple will enter the American Athletic Conference tournament on a down note.

The Owls ended their regular season Sunday with a 76-58 loss at Tulsa, finishing with two straight defeats and losses  in four of their final five games. The host Golden Hurricane scored the game's first 24 points. Temple would never get closer than seven points.

Temple (16-14, 8-10 league) now heads for the AAC tourney in Orlando. The Owls are the No. 7 seed and will meet 10th-seeded Tulane (14-16, 5-13) in a first-round game Thursday at 7 p.m. Tulsa (19-11, 12-6) has earned a first-round bye.

Temple split with Tulane. The Owls lost their first conference game of the season to the Green Wave, 85-75 on Dec. 28 at the Liacouras Center. Temple won at Tulane, 83-76, on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4.

Quinton Rose was Temple's lone double-figure scorer against Tulsa with 17 points. The Owls shot 6 for 25 from three-point range after going 6 for 31 Wednesday in a loss at UConn.

Corey Henderson Jr., who hit 5 of 8 three-point attempts, led Tulsa with 21 points.
