There was no item on the agenda of Tuesday’s Temple Board of Trustees meeting to discuss an on-campus football stadium. Temple president Richard M. Englert made passing mention of this in his president’s report.
He reiterated the main point that he made in his state of the university address last month.
“Although a decision has not been made, if such a facility should be built, our goal will be a multi-purpose facility that will have benefits to our neighbors as well as the university,” Englert said on Tuesday. “Additional analysis continues on this possible project.”
As has been in the past, there were protesters outside, voicing their displeasure at the prospect of an on-campus stadium.
Temple currently plays at Lincoln Financial Field. The original contract expires this year, but Temple owns two one-year options. The school has already exercised the option for the 2018 season and is expected to also exercise the option for 2019.
