Temple adds football series with Akron, UMass

Temple’s football team will face the Akron Zips and the Massachusetts Minutemen in future years.

Temple announced home-and-home football series with Akron and Massachusetts on Monday.

The Owls will travel to Akron on Sept. 11, 2021, and the Zips will play in Philadelphia on Sept. 2, 2023.

Temple will visit UMass on Oct. 10, 2020, and the Minutemen will play in Philadelphia on Sept. 24, 2022.

Last season, Temple beat UMass, 29-21, at Lincoln Financial Field. In 2015, Temple won a wild 25-23 decision over UMass at Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots. It is undetermined where the game at UMass will be played in 2020.
