Owls' Lee listed "day to day"

Temple post player Anthony Lee is listed "day to day" with a hip-pointer.

Lee, who sat out Saturday's 76-70 victory over Rhode Island, suffered the injury two weeks ago at practice. He banged it up on Thursday against Detroit.

"We play a very physical sport that's a contact sport often times," said coach Fran Dunphy, whose squad  plays at Fordham Wednesday night. "You got to bang people. You got to check out. You got to raise your arms.

"All of those things are bothersome for him at this point. So I certainly don't want to put him in jeopardy of getting hurt anymore."

Dunphy added that Lee, Temple's trainers and team doctor Ray Moyer will decide if he'll be ready to play Wednesday.

The 6-foot-9 sophomore participated in the Owls' shootarounds on Friday and Saturday.

"And he said, 'You know what, I'm not doing my team any good because this hip-pointer is bothering me," Dunphy said of Lee's deciding not to play against Rhode Island. "It will be a day-to-day thing.

"I'm hoping that he will be ready to go Wednesday [at Fordham]. But there's no assurance."

The Maryland native averages 10.6 points and a team-leading 7.2 rebounds. He's also the Owls' most effective scorer, shooting a team-best 55.2 percent from the field.
