South Jersey pair commits to Temple

Two South Jersey high school juniors gave commitments to play football at Temple.

David Hood, a running back at Absegami, gave his verbal commitment on Sunday. On Thursday, Camden's multiple-purpose player Sean Chandler made his pledge.  Chandler is being recruited to play cornerback, where he was a 2012 second-team all-South Jersey selection by The Inquirer.

The 6-foot, 170-pounder returned two interceptions for touchdowns last season.  As a wideout, Chandler had 565 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He also scored on two punt returns and a kickoff return.

Hood finished the season with 976 rushing yards, 489 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns. The 5-11, 185-pounder posted a time of 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

With their additions, the Owls have seven verbal commitments for the Class of 2014. The other committed players are Imhotep offensive lineman Aaron Ruff, St. Peter's Prep (N.J.) defensive back Shamir Bearfield, Governor Mifflin defensive end Connor Morehart and Gateway's  Delvon Randall (athlete) and Brenon Thrift (defensive end/outside linebacker).
