Owls commit to accept Georgia Tech offer

Now, that was quick.

Paul Davis, a senior linebacker at Cairo High (Ga.), gave a verbal commitment Tuesday to play football at Temple. Four days later, he announced his plan to play at Georgia Tech instead.

Yellow Jackets linebacker coach Andy McCollum offered him a scholarship on Saturday. Georgia Tech has always been his dream school.

"I am heading up to Atlanta first thing in the morning to talk" to Georgia Tech, he told JacketsOnline.com "For now I am committed to Temple, but that will change once I get up to Tech."

Temple had recruited the 5-foot-11, 188-pounder to play safety. He had over 100 tackles and rushed for over 1,000 yards this past season.

"I am very excited and blessed," Davis told JacketsOnline.com. "Coach [Paul] Johnson told me I can play weakside linebacker, safety, A-back or even B-back. They offered me as an athlete and will plug me in somewhere and let me play."
