Owls clinch third seed with win over VCU

Temple secured the third seed in this week's Atlantic Ten tournament by defeating 21^st-ranked Virginia Commonwealth 84-76 on Sunday at the Liacouras Center. The outcome dropped La Salle to the fourth seed of the tourney, which begins Thursday in Brooklyn. Both teams receive first-round byes.

The Owls will face the winner of sixth seed Massachusetts and 11th seed George Washington in Friday's 9 p.m. quarterfinal. The Explorers face the winner of fifth-seeded Butler vs. Dayton in Friday's 2:30 p.m. quarterfinal.
