Temple freshman Trey Lowe is likely to miss the rest of the basketball season because of injuries he suffered in a one-car accident early Sunday morning, the university said Tuesday.

A guard out of Ewing (N.J.) High, Lowe was treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., for upper-body injuries he suffered in the accident, according to Temple officials.

"I visited Trey and his family on both Sunday and Monday at the hospital," Temple coach Fran Dunphy said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time and we are hopeful that he will make a full recovery."

The 6-foot-6 Lowe was a regular rotation player for the Owls, who are 18-10 overall and 12-4 and tied for first place in the American Athletic Conference.

He appeared in all 28 games, averaging 4.8 points and 1.5 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game.

On Feb. 17, Lowe scored a career-high 21 points, hitting 5 of 8 three-pointers in an 83-67 loss to Villanova.
