Temple lands two football commitments

Cheltenham quarterback Brandon Mack isn't sure what position he will play in college, but he knows where he will be playing.

Cheltenham quarterback Brandon Mack isn't sure what position he will play in college, but he knows where he will be playing.

Mack, a senior-to-be, made an oral commitment over the weekend to Temple, which also received a commitment from Kareem Gaulden, a defensive back from Lincoln High in Jersey City, N.J.

Both players announced their intentions on Twitter, and a person familiar with Temple recruiting confirmed the information. Gaulden and Mack recently attended a Temple football camp.

Mack is a 6-foot-4, 190-pounder who ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash at Temple's camp. He is being recruited as an athlete.

"The coaches say I could be a tight end or a defensive end, but at this moment I am not sure," Mack said in a phone interview. "My goal is to keep improving."

Mack, who had an offer from Delaware State, is considered a late bloomer.

The 5-11, 190-pound Gaulden is considered capable of playing either cornerback or safety in college.

This gives Temple four commitments in the Class of 2016. The others are two-way lineman D'Andre Dill of Chester and offensive tackle Darian Bryant of Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.
